Mission Statement

The mission of People First CDC Inc. is to provide leadership development to empower individuals and families with knowledge, attitudes, belief, and skills needed to achieve personal, social, economic self-sufficiency, and to enhance the neighborhoods and communities in which they reside.

Goals

The goals of People First Community Development Corporation, Inc., are:

1.To provide positive, value-centered leadership education and development for individuals, families, neighborhoods, and communities.

2.To assist the residents of SETX to democratically organize themselves and become self-empowered to take responsibility for the enhancement and advancement of individuals, families, neighborhoods, and communities.

3.To provide for optimal development and organization of human resources with special emphasis on positive development of youth resources.

4.To promote a high level of wellness and quality health for individuals, families, neighborhoods, and communities.

5.To promote and foster education as a lifelong process.

6.To promote economic self-sufficiency through personal development, career planning, job development, jobs skill training, and full employment for all eligible residents.

7.To promote and develop a range of affordable housing in neighborhoods and communities and to also seek to move individuals and families from subsidized multi-family housing into single family home ownership.

8.To foster effective consumer economics and consumer credit practices within each individual, each family, and throughout the community.

9.To promote individual, family, neighborhood, and community economic self-sufficiency through business start-up, business expansion and sustained business entrepreneurship.

10.To promote increased economic development by attracting employers, not currently located in the SETX, to relocate to the area.

11.To establish a crisis intervention program which will be immediately available to each individual and family in neighborhoods and communities.

12.To provide for the full safety and security of individuals, families, neighborhoods, and communities to reduce criminal activities and eliminate crime.

13.To understand, participate in, and improve social systems, public policies, government, and governance.

14.To promote high level civic education, understanding, and participation in the democracy; especially through voter registration, voting and participation in civic activities at the community, municipal, county, state, and national levels.

15.To plan and implement recreational and leisure time activities for families and individuals of all ages.

16.To maintain and preserve the history and cultural development of the individuals, families, and the communities.

17.To promote social and cultural development of individuals, families, neighborhoods, and communities.

18.To design, develop, and implement a model for harmonious and effective interaction between the residents and property owners in neighborhoods, and communities.

19.To promote the growth and development of Residents Councils, Residents Associations, Neighborhood Associations, and other Community Associations.

20.To develop and implement a plan to guide the growth of the entire physical environment to include infrastructure, utilities, outdoor beautification, parks, waste management, etc., and to maintain a clean and safe physical environment.

21.To promote access to effective and efficient transportation systems as needed by individuals, families, neighborhoods, and communities.

22.To foster public awareness, community awareness, and citizen’ involvement in the activities and programs for individuals, families, neighborhoods, and communities.

23.To establish community-based partnerships with churches, schools, businesses, industries, corporations, institutions, agencies, etc.

24.To develop, maintain, and annually update strategic plans for individuals, families, neighborhoods, communities, and the Corporation.

25.To engage in research which is essential to effective empowerment of individuals, families, neighborhoods, and communities.

26.To establish a capital development and fund-raising program, to secure private and public sector support through gifts, grants, contracts, and in-kind contributions from individuals, institutions, businesses, corporations, foundations, etc. to support the activities and programs of the multi-family housing community.

27.To engage in other specific worthwhile endeavors which enhance and advance individuals, families, neighborhoods, and communities.

28.To document significant milestones and achievements in all program areas.

29.To engage in effective organization, administration, qualitative, and quantitative monitoring and evaluation of all programs and activities of People First Community Development Corporation, Inc.
